Who? What? Why Bowls??
Who are We?
Hornsea & District Indoor Bowls Club (HIBC) is East Yorkshire’s Premier Indoor Bowls Club. It was purpose built in 1998 and hosts a number of bowls teams, leagues and social bowling opportunities as well as a team of qualified coaches who offer FREE coaching for members and those wanting to try the sport. The club also hosts a number of non-bowling activities, events and clubs and can be hired out for private functions.
More information on our structure can be found in the Club Organisation and Management page.
What is Bowls?
The modern sport of Bowls has come a long way from the stereotypical image. At every level it is
A GAME FOR ALL AGES & BACKGROUNDS – we have members from age 7 to 93! We are students, welders, firemen, gardeners, cashiers, publishers, teaching assistants and a fair few retirees too. We are bikers, golfer, readers, dancers, walking footballers, gamers, knitters and walkers. Bowlers come from all walks of life and come in all shapes and sizes
A GAME FOR ALL ABILITIES – bowls is an easily adapted sport and we have a number of aids to assist the less able or less agile bowler, including bowls delivery arms, lifters and manual and motorised wheelchairs.
A GAME FOR ALL AMBITIONS – whether you want a bit of social fun or aim to play in the World Championships, there are players at the same level as you in the club and coaches willing to support you any time you want to hone those skills. But if all you want is a light hearted game and a coffee after, then we have plenty of players happy to play with you in the Social Bowls sessions.
