Yorkshire League Success for the Men

The men’s Yorkshire League A Team were celebrating after winning Division 1 in the 2023/24 season and then went on to win the Challenge Competition at the end of the Season, which is a first win for the club. Meanwhile, the Over 55’s A team (Hornsea Seagulls) were runners up in Division 1.   The trophies will be housed in the cabinet above the lockers in the bowls arena. Congratulations all!

 2024/25 Men’s Leagues

The club usually has two teams in the Yorkshire County Leagues with the A team in Division 1 and the B team in Division 3. These games are played on Saturdays with two rinks at home and two away.  However we are in need of team captains for both teams. If interested please contact any member of the Bowls Committee.

In addition there are two teams in the midweek Over 55’s league with the Hornsea Seagulls playing in Division 1 and the Hornsea Hawks playing in Division 2.

Results and league tables can be found on a new County Website – https://yorkscountyiba.leaguerepublic.com/index.html

 2024/5 Ladies’ Leagues

The club plays in both the Yorkshire InterClub League (YL) and the North Eastern Ladies League (NELL).  Results can be found for each at https://www.yorkshireladiesindoorbowls.com/

Club Colours

The now has two sets of club colours!

After receiving sponsorship from Greene King, the Top Team and Egham players asked if they could have a new more dynamic shirt design and members of the club were canvassed for their opinions on the designs in August. This resulted in the Hornsea Panthers team name and shirt being chosen and a decision made to include the Denny / men’s A team in group receiving the first shirts (after the team’s significant National run last year and being winners of the Yorkshire League.  The Yorkshire B team are now being asked if they would like to move on to the new shirts.

The short mat team and over 55’s teams currently still play in the club’s silver anniversary shirts and grey trousers (or black if no grey owned).  The ladies team play in the silver anniversary shirts and black trousers.

At the March 2024 Bowls Committee AGM, it was agreed that the club’s official colours will now be club shirts and BLACK TROUSERS (rather than white).

In addition, when playing club league games, the dress code is now:

Mainly white collared shirts or coloured bowls shirts

Black or grey trousers, tailored shorts or skirts

Flat soled shoes (no outdoor shoes allowed)

Anyone found wearing outdoor shoes or those with ridged soles will be asked to leave the green immediately.

County Teams

Full members are also entitled to nominate for County Teams. Nomination forms are pinned up on the Ladies and Men’s Boards (County News) from time to time.

County teams generally play in the National competitions such as the Men’s Liberty and Ladies Atherley inter-county championships. The County also has teams in the Men’s Over 60’s Intercounty championship, Mixed Under 25’s double rinks and Mixed Under 18’s Double Rink Triples Championships.

Yorkshire also has a county team in the Midland Seniors Indoor Bowling League where players aged 55 or over on 30th September of that season play against teams from Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Warwickshire and County Durham. Again, nomination forms appear on the Men’s County News Board.  More information and league results can be found on https://www.midlandseniors.org.uk

Inter or Intra County Friendlies are also held from time to time and notices for these appear on the appropriate Ladies’ and Men’s Boards.
