Touring Teams, Local Club Events and Visitors
The club welcomes all enquiries from touring clubs with regard to hosting matches and friendly games. The bowling floor was laid to a high specification in 1998 and the carpet replaced in 2015, so giving Hornsea IBC one of the best bowling surfaces in the region. With a large light and airy bar and restaurant, Hornsea IBC is able to provide a range of bowling and meal package options to suit most budgets. With notice the club can arrange for members to form an opposing side to provide an afternoon’s entertainment.
In addition the adjacent outdoors flat green bowls club is a popular venue for touring teams thanks to the friendly welcome and the adjacent bar and cafe/restaurant in the Hornsea IBC whose doors open out onto the patio overlooking the outdoor green.
Local Club Events
Hornsea IBC is proud and honoured to be the venue of choice for regular roll-ups and club dinners for many outdoor bowls clubs in the area. We have hosted events for both Beverley bowls clubs, the Bridlington bowls clubs and Withernsea bowls club and for clubs from the many villages between. The club welcomes enquiries for regular or one-off bookings throughout the year.
Visitors to Hornsea
Hornsea IBC welcomes visitors to the area for roll-ups, meals, bridge or dancing. We are a members club but allow up to five visits a year before requiring anyone to become members. Our Social Bowling membership may be attractive to anyone who stays regularly at a local venue or caravan site and wishes to bowl more often.Rink fees include free hire of bowls shoes and bowls with bowling arms and wheelchairs available for the less able. It is advisable to book in advance for bowling by calling the club reception on 01964 537776 or calling in to the club.
Hornsea lies 35 miles south of Scarborough which has the large Alexandria Indoor Bowls Centre making the two venues a natural pairing of stops for any East Coast Bowls trip or weekend. The Yorkshire Coast is a favourite area among holiday makers with a range of attractions from stunning headlands, the rolling Wolds, stately homes, nature reserves, historic towns and traditional seaside ports. Hornsea is home to Freeport Hornsea with its range of discounted branded stores and is just 5 minutes down the road from the huge Skirlington Sunday Market. The historic market town of Beverley with its stunning Minster and thriving Saturday market is just 20 minutes away by car.
