Hornsea Outdoor Bowls Club
Discover Hornsea Bowling Club
A friendly club, great bowling and a warm welcome for everyone!
Tucked away just behind Hornsea Indoor Bowls Club on Atwick Road, Hornsea Bowling
Club is a thriving outdoor bowls club with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. With
ample free parking, it is easy to get to and a great place to enjoy a game of bowls, meet
new people and become part of a friendly local community.
During the summer months, the club is particularly busy, with teams competing in 11
different leagues, providing plenty of opportunities for competitive bowling at all levels.
Alongside the league programme, there are club competitions, friendly matches, touring
teams and, of course, plenty of opportunities for social bowling.
And it isn’t all about the bowling! Social activities take place on many weekends
throughout the season, with fun days, competitions, fundraising events and gatherings
providing members with plenty of opportunities to enjoy each other’s company away
from the competitive side of the sport.
A major investment in our green
One of the biggest developments at the club recently has been the major renovation of
our bowling green.
Following several years of problems with the playing surface, the club successfully
secured funding from East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Commuted Sums Fund, which
provided 90% of the project cost. The club also made a substantial contribution of its
own, supported by the generous donations and fundraising efforts of our members.
This has been a major investment for a small community club, but one that we believe is
essential to securing the future of outdoor bowls at Hornsea. The improved green will
provide a better playing experience for our current members while helping us to attract
new players and encourage people of all ages to discover the enjoyment of bowls.
