2020 is proving to be an exciting year for Hornsea players in the EIBA National competitions with several players reaching Regional Finals and our some already securing places at the National Finals which are held throughout March.
Champion of Champions
Firstly, huge congratulations to Holly Baxter who battled her way through to the last four of the Ladies National Champion of Champions competition. She was only narrowly beaten (21-18) in the semi-finals by the eventual winner, Katherine Readnall. Katherine is Holly’s skip in the England ladies team and has won a number of National titles so getting so close was a huge achievement.
Holly reached the finals by winning the club’s ladies singles competition, then winning against the ladies singles champions in Yorkshire to represent the region. The finals were held at Warner Leisure’s Hayling Island Resort over three days at the beginning of February.
Singles, Pairs, Triples and Fours

All club teams are now out of the competition but Hornsea were once again the last Yorkshire team in both the Top Team and Egham Trophy. The eleven member Top Team got to the last 32 in the country before being knocked out by Spalding just before Christmas in a very tight match at South Forest IBC. The Egham team got through to the last 16 before being knocked out by a very strong South Shields team in early December. Ladies Two Bowl Singles – Katy and Holly Baxter due to play each other
