A team from Hornsea triumphed at York Indoor Bowls Centre on 30th March 2019 at the Disability Bowls England (DBE) Inter Club Triples Competition. Eight teams took part with all playing three games in a round robin format and the the winner of each of the two round robins playing in the final. The Hornsea trio of Doreen Padgett, Steve Payne and Colin Garner won through their half of the draw before triumphing in a tightly contested final against members from Leeds IBC.
This was a new event for the DBE in York Indoor Bowls Club and it is hoped that further events may follow. Attendees showed enthusiasm for a Regional League so we will watch to hear what may follow. The York event was one of five being held on the same day at various venues across the UK. Any person registered disabled is entitled to join Disability Bowls England and play in it’s tournaments (see https://www.disabilitybowlsengland.org.uk/).
