In April HIBC was delighted to see four of our younger members return from the English Indoor Bowls Association’s (EIBA) National Championships with the trophy for, and title of, Ladies Fours National Champions.
Winning through their heats at both County and then Regional level, the team joined 15 others at Melton Mowbray & District Indoor Bowls Club, home to the EIBA Championships for a weekend of challenging bowls matches. The ladies were the youngest team there but they did not let this mere statistic worry them. Student Lydia Cutmore who at just 18 years of age is the youngest team member, set the pace as the team lead player. Danny Martinson displayed her deadly accurate drawing skills as number two with sisters Holly and Katy Baxter forming a solid back end to the team. A strong team spirit and steady nerves saw them take the prestigious trophy with each lady receiving a glass keepsake.
Celebrations at the club on the Monday night of their return were justifiably long and loud. The ladies aim to retain their title this coming year and all at HIBC wish them well in the forthcoming Nationals.
