OUR LADIES TRIPLES TEAM ARE

NATIONAL CHAMPIONS 2023!!!!

Congratulations to Holly Chaytor, Katy Baxter, and Lydia Cutmore on winning the EIBA National Ladies Triples Competition. The 3 bowlers from Hornsea & District Indoor Bowls Club, attended the Top 16, at Nottingham Indoor Bowls Club, on 12th April 2023. Scraping through their preliminary round against Cumbria 16-14, the triple exceeded expectations and achieved the highest scoring rink across the competition for every round. Hornsea 23 – 7 Welford on Avon, Hornsea 25 – 11 Great Aycliffe, Hornsea 23 – 8 White Knights, and Finals Results Hornsea 22 (10) 6 Nottingham. After not qualifying since 2017, the triple entered the Nationals wanting to spend more time with each other and have now qualified to play in the British Isles Indoor Bowls Competition against Scotland, Wales, and Ireland at Falcon Indoor Bowls Club in March 2024.

AND THE MENS TRIPLES TEAM CAME A

CLOSE SECOND!!
Congratulations to Runners Up Mathew Bell, Jack Bird, and James Baxter for the National Men’s Triples Competition at the same time. The men came across some strong teams and worked hard to make it through to the Final against Swale (Kent). Both teams received positive feedback from spectators saying ‘ You have gained a lot of supporters throughout this competition. Your camaraderie, attitude, and demeanour on and off the Bowls green is lovely to see. It is nice to see you supporting each other and are an inspiration’.  Both teams have achieved a year of firsts:
– The first time any female team has conceded so early at 10 ends, in a Final.
– The first time any National Final team has ever scored a HOT SHOT (the full amounts of points that can be scored)
– The first time both Ladies and Men Finalists are from the same club.
– The first time both teams have collectively been Under 30.

This has been a HUGE success for Hornsea & District Indoor Bowls Club, and both teams have expressed their thanks to everyone who has got in touch and congratulated them on their success.
