All new comers are invited to participate in up to four free bowls lessons at 9am (check with reception for available days) before deciding whether this is the sport for you. Bowls shoes and bowls are available from reception for all club members and learners to borrow. In addition, the club also has coaching sessions on a Tuesday night when the four free bowls lessons can be taken – please call reception on 01964 537776 for more details and to book.
Beginners and those new to indoor bowling are welcome to join the new Beginners and Intermediates League held on Thursdays at 12.30pm. This is a pairs event but anyone without a pair can go into a draw to have a partner drawn for them. The league runs for 12 weeks from January to April.
The club also runs skills development sessions and courses for those wanting to improve basic skills and take their game to the next level. Sessions may focus on areas of the game such as playing with weight, varying the length or reading the head. Anyone who would like to participate in such sessions should ask at reception.
Subject to demand, the club periodically runs coaching courses leading to EIBA qualifications.
Group Taster Sessions
Enquiries from adult and junior groups for come and try sessions are always welcome. The club will aim to find a date and time that suits you and has a range of bowls in various sizes (including over a dozen sets of junior bowls) so can host up to 24 new comers at a time. We have hosted Beaver, Cub and Scout groups, school classes, ladies groups, sports teams and special interest groups at such sessions. Please call reception to enquire about such sessions.
The club is fortunate to have a number of qualified coaches in the club including Ian Paddy who has developed coaching courses for coaches.
