Congratulations to Hornsea’s four ladies who have been invited to trial for the England ladies teams. Following their success in the EIBA Nationals Fours competition, Lydia Cutmore, Danni Martinson plus Holly & Katy Baxter have all been invited for England Trials.

Lydia and Katy have been invited to trial for the Ladies England Under 25’s team. Katy has also been invited to trial for the Ladies Seniors team along with sister Holly and Danni Martinson. Unfortunately Holly who has been dreaming of such a call up, cannot make the trials due to a clash of dates.

The trials are being held at Rugby Thornfield on 2nd December for the England team in the BIWIBC International Series on Friday 9th – 11th March 2018 @ Paisley IBC.

The under 25’s team are being held the following day for the BIWIBC U25 International Series on Sat 10th & Sun 11th Feb 2018 @ Nottingham.

The ladies will be joined by Helen Wood of York as the only representatives from Yorkshire.  We wish them luck and good bowling at the trials.

Nationals Results

Meanwhile, several club members are continuing to progress in the Nationals competitions. These are played in a knockout format with some games being played at home in Hornsea (depending on the draw). The ladies are hoping to  retain their fours title and are also involved in singles, pairs, family pairs and triples games. Simon Wright and Jim Moulds are progressing in their respective games while other club members are yet to play their first games.

There have been mixed results in the team competitions:

The 16 man Hornsea ladies won their first round game of the Yetton Trophy against Scarborough only to be knocked out by a very strong York team. The mixed Top Team and Egham teams did not get beyond the first two round unfortunately.

The men’s team lost the first round of the Denny Cup and so continued the competition in the Plate section and after winning their first two matches in the Plate will play Darlington in the next round.

The Over 60 Men’s Double Rinks play their second round match against Scarborough this Tuesday (28th) and we wish them luck.
